Covid-19 and Taxes
Information as of April 1, 2020 (2:00 pm PST):
Currently, we are postponing any face-to-face tax meetings with clients in an effort to keep both our staff and our clients safe. However, our office is still open to drop off information or to pick up your tax return. You can also mail your information to us or send it via our secure web portal by clicking the “Client File Transfer” link below. We are also happy to take your phone calls with any questions you may have.
Here is what we know regarding filing of tax returns:
The IRS and CALIFORNIA have extended the tax filing deadline to JULY 15, 2020.
If you have a federal or California payment due, you can pay that by JULY 15, 2020, without incurring additional penalties or interest.
For California, any estimates due APRIL 15 or JUNE 15 can also be paid by JULY 15, 2020, without incurring additional penalties or interest.
For Federal, any estimates due APRIL 15 can also be paid by JULY 15, 2020, without incurring additional penalties or interest.
AS OF NOW, IF YOU HAVE A FEDERAL ESTIMATE DUE JUNE 15, THOSE ESTIMATES HAVE NOT BEEN EXTENDED AND ARE STILL DUE JUNE 15.
The time to fund both IRAs and HSAs has also been extended to July 15, 2020.
If you choose to pay your taxes by July 15, we will NOT be reminding our clients that they are due. This will be your responsibility.
Businesses have until the end of July to file and pay their 1st quarter sales tax with liability under $1 million. INFO HERE
